PONY Baseball & Softball and the China Baseball Association Signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

On December 9, 2019, Mr. Chen Xu, President of the China Baseball Association(CBA), Mr. Takeharu Nasu, Director of PONY Asia Pacific Zone, and Mr. Walker Xia Yi, Director of PONY China, signed the 2020 strategic cooperation memorandum, formally defining the cooperation framework of the 69-year-old world-class youth baseball and softball league in China.

This is the first time that the Chinese Baseball Association has signed a formal memorandum of cooperation with the international youth league after the materialized reform in China. The three parties will give full play to the advantages of standardized guidance, international system and local operation. They will jointly create a favorable internal and external environment and a solid and extensive youth foundation for the development of Chinese baseball.

“PONY is honored to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Baseball Association (CBA)." stated Abraham Key, President of PONY Baseball and Softball. “This presents a great opportunity to integrate the youth baseball market in China with the PONY international brand and grow the game together. Our thanks and gratitude to the China Baseball Association, the PONY Asia Pacific Zone and PONY China for the confidence and value they see in the PONY brand."

Since 2018, PONY Baseball has made a rapid growth in China mainland with support of the CBA. More and more young people, clubs and parents have participated in and paid attention to the youth baseball and softball game. The operation and promotion of the game has also been recognized and supported numerous participating organizations and partners.
According to the memorandum of cooperation, the PONY Baseball will cooperate fully with the CBA to assist the development and improvement of youth baseball in China. PONY Baseball will provide more international competition and communication opportunities for Chinese youth clubs, schools and team players at all age levels. Under the support of the CBA and PONY globe system, PONY China will actively promote the systematization, branding and standardization of local events.


Mr. Chen Xu, Chairman of the CBA, said: China's baseball development needs more organizations work together, one of the keys to the development of the game of baseball in adolescents, the Chinese Baseball Association has been committed to develop more youth baseball fans, provide more internationalization, standardization of events and to provide more high quality coaches and umpires at the same time. The association is also very concerned about specification, healthy and sustainable development mode of cooperation, we are very happy to be able to work hand in hand with PONY Baseball.


PONY Asia Pacific Zone Director Mr. Takeharu Nasu said,“We are very honored to cooperate with the China Baseball Association to contribute our strength, and cooperate together to let more Chinese youth have a chance to enjoy baseball games, let youth baseball players from all over the world make friendship, communication. As one of the largest youth baseball and softball organizations in the world, the PONY league has grown by leaps and bounds in the Asia Pacific Zone in recent years, with more than 3,500 youth teams participating in all levels of the PONY league in 22 countries and regions. Protect Our Nation's Youth is the core concept of PONY.”

Mr. Walker Xia Yi, Director of PONY China, expressed his appreciation to the CBA for its support and recognition to the PONY China league over the years. 

“We would also like to express our sincere thanks to our partners and organizations for their joint efforts to make PONY league take root and develop in China. It is our unswerving endeavor to cultivate young people with our beloved baseball. We will continue to work together with all friends to help the development of baseball in China.”
